Most people are in a state of chronic dehydration so this information doesn’t apply to 99.99% of us, but it is possible to consume too much water – in the sense of flushing out vitamins and minerals, especially for athletes. Athletes perspire and should take in massive amounts of water, but they lose electrolytes when they perspire and massive amounts of water further flush out electrolytes, minerals and vitamins. (Electrolytes maintain the electrical conductivity between cells. They are critical to the correct functioning of our body). If you’re an athlete and or drinking copious amounts of water, be mindful to take an electrolyte additive (Nunn is fantastic – found almost everywhere) and eat correctly. We should consume water in small amounts throughout the day (60-120 ounces) and our urine should look pale yellow.
