GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid) is a neuro-inhibiter which reduces the transmission between nerve cells in the brain – hence it promotes sleep, improves mood, helps reduce chronic pain and may help prevent seizures. It’s certainly a healthy alternative to benzodiazepines and other tranquilizers. It’s great for reducing stress. Some studies indicate GABA might also increase human growth hormone levels. If you need something to take the edge off – don’t pick up a drink or a pill – try GABA.
NOTE: Valerian Root and Kava Kava are also excellent homeopathic stress busters and work like muscle relaxers. If you try them, I would buy these products independently instead of buying a comprehensive stress formula which includes all 3. Most formulas tend to use inferior sources and under dose.
